Success has always raised the bar and has been reflected in the constant smiles of healthcare professionals from the north to the south of the country. Quoting one of the doctors present at the Hospital de S. João in Porto, "After an arduous crossing of the desert, we are here relearning how to live and feed much more than the stomach. The soul also eats." 8,143 meals later, the 10 actions of the gastronomic tribute by Chef Chakall have come to an end, which, starting from the celebration of the 50th anniversary of Valente Marques (Arroz Caçarola), brought together people and brands with the purpose of "Taking care of those who take care of us."
"We ended this week with something unforgettable", says Chef Chakall. "We visited 9 hospitals and 1 vaccination centre from the north to the south of the country. Mia Couto once wrote that 'Cooking is not a service... cooking is a way of loving others'. The last few weeks have been about this: bringing a little joy to the professionals of the NHS. We are very grateful for all the effort and dedication during such a difficult and challenging time. Our return is immense. With more than 8,000 meals served, we took home more than 8,000 smiles." This complete harmony will be forever engraved in the memory of all those who participated in this solidarity action. As the giant phrase (both in size and content) at the top of the Unidade Local de Saúde do Litoral Alentejano (ULSLA) - the last of this national tour - said, "To each and every one, thank you!"
Valente Marques In such an unusual year, the desire to celebrate half a century of history in the daily lives of the Portuguese could only be addressed first and foremost to all those who have fought for us all. The initiative "Taking care of those who take care of us" was born with Chef Chakall, a long-time partner of Valente Marques | Arroz Caçarola. This social responsibility action is the first of the year, in celebration of the 50th anniversary of Valente Marques, S.A.
